A wise soul introduced me to this term in Ayurveda.
SANDHYA: the transition moments of the day. The pause between the inhale and the exhale. The moment when the sun rises or sets. Where the sky meets the ocean and where the ocean meets the shore. Where the mountaintop touches the sky. It’s in these moments and these places where the magic happens. It’s during these times and these locations when our practice will be the most potent. So take a moment, find yourself in one of these places during one of these times, listen to your breath, set your intention, and chant a mantra such as the Gayatri Mantra below. Experience how the mantra during this time and at this place will bring about a deeper sense of clarity, focus, and energy that may drop you into a place of rest and digest…..ease and peace.
“OM BUHR, BHUVA, SWAHA
OM TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
BHARGO DEVASYA DHEEMAHI
DHIYO YONAHA PRACHODAYAT”
We meditate on the glory of the Creator;
Who has created the Universe;
Who is worthy of Worship;
Who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light;
Who is the remover of Sin and Ignorance;
May He open our hearts and enlighten our Intellect.
